solve the inequality -3|6-x|<-15 then graph solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 4 from each side of the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where does the 4 come from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I attached a picture of the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK...let's try this again. Divide by -3 first. |6-x|<5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After this, set the problem up this way. -5<6-x<5 -11<-x<-1 11>x>1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You'll see the picture matches this solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg thank you so much! I understand it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome

@DSS: I think you made a mistake :( If you divide by a negative number, the inequal sign changes, so: -3|6-x|<-15 becomes |6-x|>5. You then can see this as: "the distance of the number x to the number 6 is more than 5. So your answer would be: x<1 or x>11
