I have a function problem I need a little help solving? I have 2 functions: t(x) = 4x + 3 and c(x) = 2x + 5 Then, I'm told x = 4 Now I just need to figure out how to put it like this so I can solve: c(t(x))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c(t(x)) 2x + 5(4x + 3(x))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I put replaced 4 with x. 2(4) + 5(4(4)x + 3(4))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8+5(16+12) 13(28) 364 but this isn't an answer option. D: My answer options are 13, 43, 55, or 59. What am I doing wrong? Did I interpret the question wrong?

Here's the real problem just in case I was.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use 4 in place of x in t(x) and solve. what ever value you get from that, use it in place of x in c(x), solve that for your answer to c(t(4))

OHH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13(19(4))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which would be come.. 13(76) and then... 998? That's still not right. D:

Usually I'm really good at functions, but this one has me completely mindblown.. maybe it's because it's waaay past my bedtime and I'm running on caffeine. xD
