Will fan + medal!!!
Solve the system.
x – 2y = 10
3x + 2y = 14

Add the two equations together first :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I had someone say that already but how do i do that? @kc_kennylau
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
You add both LeftHandSides together as well as both RightHandSides together.
For example, to the two equations a=b and c=d, a+c=b+d
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
Do you get it now?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
kinda...

not really..
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
For example, I want to add the following two equations up:
1. \(\color{red}a=\color{blue}b\)
2. \(\color{red}c=\color{blue}d\)
I would get the following result:
\[\color{red}a+\color{red}c=\color{blue}b+\color{blue}d\]
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
Still don't get it?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Nope....
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
Notice how the red parts add up together, as well as the blue parts

still don't get it?
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
or you get it now?

See how -2y and +2y cancel out?
Just add them up, one of them has to cancel out in order to solve and then to solve for the other variable
So adding them your left with 4x = 24
Solve for x :P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what's y? @tHe_FiZiCx99
