Give an example of two binomials whose sum is a trinomial.

@wolfe8

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Do you know binomial and trinomial mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Binomial- an algebraic expression of the sum or the difference of two terms. Trinomial-(of an algebraic expression) consisting of three terms.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Alright. Well here's a hint: Result will be a trinomial if 2 of the terms are "like but not additive inverses" and the others are not "like" terms. Can you come up with one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like 5 -7 + 5x?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Well you need 2. I'd say have something in the format of a + b b+c This way in the end the b will combine and you will only have 3 terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like 5-3+4x+3y?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Sure. But make sure when you separate them into 2 you don't have 5-3 together because that can be simplified into a monomial 2. And make sure if you can have more than one unknown.
