If a mutation occurs in a body cell and the mutation changes the phenotype of the individual, what will happen to the offspring of the individual?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since it is a body cell (somatic cell) the offspring will not get affected ie they would be born normal without any change in their phenotype. This is because the mutation is in the somatic cells which do not participate in sexual reproduction . If the same mutation was in the gametes then definitely the offspring would have the altered phenotype as the parent.
