in what way did the american revolution affect other countries

It didn't have that much of an effect. There weren't a lot of nations in position that could be affected by it. Great Britain more or less brushed it off and went about its business elsewhere. France is where we see the American Revolution having its greatest influence, but it was very indirect. This is because many will cite the American Revolution as the catalyst which sparked the French Revolution, which went on to subvert and change all of Europe in immeasurable ways. It many ways it is the French Revolution that truly made the modern world, and the American Revolution helped it to begin. However there were countless other factors at play in France which made it possible, so the American Revolution alone cannot be blamed. The truth is America was far away from most other powers. There was no other dominant force in the Western Hemisphere which could threaten them as the Spanish Empire in Central and South America was a shadow of its former self. Did you know America's army was barely 100 men at one point? They absolutely had no fear of foreign powers, and their trade was exclusively with a handful of nations in Western Europe and those powers' trade outposts in the Caribbean. TL;DR: The world kept spinning, and only a fraction of it even cared that the Revolution happened. Obviously in the long term, it mattered a great deal more to the rest of the world than it did in the short term. But that's something books are written about, not answered here.
