OpenStudy (anonymous):

How many solutions does this system of equations have? y = –3x + 7 y = –3x – 6 (Points : 1) infinitely many 2 1 0

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\bf y = {\color{red}{ –3}}x + 7\\ y = {\color{red}{ -3}}x – 6\) what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no solution right so 0

@kelliegirl33

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well... ahemm.... why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a negative and a negative would make it no solution i assume

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ahemm.... well same-slope functions, means their graph is parallel lines parallel lines never touch, thus since they never touch, there's no solution since a solution is where their graph cross

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No solutions. The lines are parallel. In problems like this, solve each for y and then compare the coefficient of x, the line's slope.
