help please ha! Consider the following food chain: Plants are eaten by grasshoppers, which are eaten by mice, which are eaten by snakes. What would happen to the other members of the food chain if the plant population was wiped out? a. The populations of grasshoppers, mice, and snakes would increase. b. The populations of grasshoppers and mice would increase, while the population of snakes would decrease. c. The populations of grasshoppers would decrease, while the population of mice and snakes would increase. d. The populations of grasshoppers, mice, and snakes woul

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am assuming D would be all populations will decrease which is the correct answer. Grasshoppers would starve living a smaller population for the mice to eat who would then in turn starve and so on and so forth for the snakes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d says the number of plants will increase, the number of grasshoppers will increase, the number of snakes will increase it doesnt say decrease :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would the number of plants increase if the plant population is wiped out? Confusing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you said it was d and thats what d says

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just assumed that would be the ending of d. Based on what you gave me, it can't logically be D. I would go with all populations decrease, but since that's not an answer hopefully someone else will come along who knows.

will can u help me with another one :)

Plants are eaten by grasshoppers, which are eaten by mice, which are eaten by snakes. In the short term, what will happen to the other members of the food chain if the mice were removed? a. the number of plants will decrease, the number of grasshoppers will increase, the number of snakes will decrease b. the number of plants will decrease, the number of grasshoppers will decrease, the number of snakes will decrease c. the number of plants will increase, the number of grasshoppers will increase, the number of snakes will decrease d. the number of plants will increase, the number of grasshoppers will increase, the number of snakes will increase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A! Grasshoppers won't get eaten so their numbers will go up and they will eat lots of plants, so number of plants will go down. Lack of mice means starving snakes so decrease in snake population!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on ur first question im doing the same thing and d says The populations of grasshoppers, mice, and snakes would decrease. so its d
