HELP!!!!!! Find the domain of the function.f(x) = -2x + 4 A. (-∞, 0) (0, ∞) B. (-∞, ∞) C. [-4, ∞) D. (0, ∞)

OpenStudy (lucaz):

domain are the x values you can plug in the equation, -2x + 4 has no restrictions, you can plug in any value, the answer is B

OpenStudy (mathmale):

True. f(x)-2x+4 is a polynomial, and the domain of any polynomial is (-inf, +inf), same as here.

OpenStudy (lucaz):

but let's say you have -2x+4/x when x is zero the function is undefined, in this case you can plug in any value except zero, the answer would be A

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Right, lucaz, but that's a whole new ball game; you've created a "rational function."

OpenStudy (lucaz):

yeah, just in case =P
