Which is the MOST IMPORTANT property of water?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

They're all important. There's about 5 or 6, if I do recall.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the most important one though? between cohesion, polarity, universal solvent..ect..

OpenStudy (abb0t):

they're all important. But between those three, two of those are very important. In Chemistry, the polarity of water is highly important. And, one can argue that water is \(not\) a universal solvent. It can be a solvent for a copious amount of organic and inorganic species, BUT not universal. Which do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue. im trying to get as much info. as i can now, my midterm is tomorrow

OpenStudy (abb0t):

From a chemist's standpoint, I would say it's polarity is the more important of the choices you listed. It kind of combines everything you listed and explains many of it's properties.
