1) in what way is DNA like a book? .DNA has information organized with a kind of index .DNA has stored information that can be copied and passed on .DNA has information wrapped in an identifying cover .DNA has information that is periodically updated 2) Griffith called the process he abserved transformation because . the mouse had been transformed .the harmful bacteria had been transformed .the harmless bacteria had been transformed .the experiment had been transformed

1) http://bit.ly/sfMoqT 2) Need more info. What was the proess?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

process*

i dont know thats all they wrote for number two

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Any pictures? Statements?

OpenStudy (colouringme):

Griffith did 4 experiments, the one that related to your question is the fourth one. From the first and second experiment, we can say that : Harmful bacteria is the smooth strain. They produce capsules which cause the immune system of the rat doesn’t recognise them. Harmless bacteria is the rough strain, they doesn’t produce capsules, which cause the immune system of the rat recognise them The third experiment was heating the harmful bacteria, which cause the enzymes to denaturate, and the bacteria died, and the rat doesn’t. The forth experiment was combining the heated harmful bacteria with the unheated harmless bacteria. When the harmful bacteria heated, their enzymes denaturated, but their DNA doesn’t. It floats around and transformed into the harmless bacteria. The harmless bacteria expressed the harmful bacteria DNA’s and produce capsules, which cause the harmless bacteria to become harmful. Hope it helped. (:

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Ah ok thanks @colouringme now the question makes sense. So, what here has changed? Rough strain shouldn't kill, and heated smooth strain shouldn't kill either(they are dead). But combined, they killed the mouse. What transformed here?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Oh sorry I was directing the question to Cc to try and help him answer. But yea that's correct.

OpenStudy (colouringme):

ahh, I'll delete it then :D

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Oh it was fine. I don't think he is coming back anyway so the answer would've been helpful for future reference. You can put it back if you still have it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she and im back, thanks
