OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the vertical asymptote and horizontal asymptote for this equation: (x^2-25)/(x-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are none

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is only one oblique

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

factor the numerator... eliminate the common factor and all that will be left will be a point of discontinuity where x -5 = 0

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the equation simplifies to y = x + 5 as @collegekids said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for clarifying it @campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so there are no asymptotes... just a point of discontinuity
