My book asks me:
How would you say the following in Japanese?

I like playing soccer.

A) サッカーは　おもしろいです。
B) サッカーを　みるのが　すきです。
C) サッカーを　するのが　すきです。
D) サッカーを　するのは　いやです。

I believe the correct answer is C, but I am confused as to why they used 'suru' instead of another word and is it acceptable?

A) サッカーは　おもしろいです。
B) サッカーを　みるのが　すきです。
C) サッカーを　するのが　すきです。
D) サッカーを　するのは　いやです。

A) Soccer is interesting.
B) I like watching people play soccer.
C) I like playing soccer.
D) I hate playing soccer.

C) サッカーを　するのが　すきです。 is correct

する　is the plain form or 'dictionary form' of the verb you know as します (masu form);
There are different ways of nominalizing a verb. One of them is: plain form+の
adding が makes it the subject in the sentence

The translations are ok too :-)

In English you play sports and games, but in Japanese you する them. It's just an idiomatic expression you have to remember.
