write an equation will the following information in slope-intercept,point-slope, or standard form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with* 1)passes through (-1,4) and -5,2) 2)has a x-intercept of 6 and a y-intercept of 3 3)passes through (1,2) with a slope of -5/3.

For 1, use (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) where (x1,y1) is (-1,4) and (x2,y2) is (-5,2) to find the slope m. After you find slope m, use point-intercept form y-y1=m(x-x1), and choose one of the two points for your equation. For 3, you skip two point-intercept form using (1,2) as (x1,y1) and plug it into the equation. For 2, x-intercept of 6 means y = 0 at x=6. y-intercept 3 means x=0 at y=3. So you get (6,0) and (0,3). Find the slope and then use point-intercept form to find the equation.

That's a lot to do, so lets do number 1 first:

it doesnt have to be solved just need to know the equation to use to solve it and why im using that equation

You use point-slope form to ensure it goes through a given point with slope m.
