If the slope of a straight line is 0 and the y-intercept is –2, what is the equation of the line? A. y = –2 B. y = x – 2 C. y = 2x D. y = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if the slope is 0 then the line has to be horizontal. Because if it was vertical, the slope would be undefined. Since slope is rise/run, if the slope is 0 you aren't using a rise. So it's 0. It measures the change in y coordinate divided by the one in the x coordinate. So we know B & C are out of the picture because they give slopes of 1 and 2, and we know the slope is 0. If the y intercept is -2 Then the initial point is (0,-2). That's it. All of the points across (0,2) is a solution. x
