Does anyone know what are the x-intercepts of y=6x^2+13x-5?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

x-intercepts means when y = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, so just plug 0 in for x like: 6(0)^2+13(0)-5?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

no y = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, what would be the answer for this problem???

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you know how to use the quadtratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I do

OpenStudy (triciaal):

let me know your ans

OpenStudy (triciaal):

by the way the y-intercept would be when x=0 and you would plug like you did above. when the coefficient of x^2 is >1 always faster to use formula than to try and factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thanks and I got 2 and -15

OpenStudy (triciaal):

-13 +7/12 ; -13-7/12 -1/2,

OpenStudy (triciaal):

did you check it in the original?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh no, but thanks though

OpenStudy (triciaal):

did u use a =6, b= 13 and c = -5

OpenStudy (triciaal):

are you sure c is not +5
