Find the price per unit, $17.99 for 20g converted into oz.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

1g = .035274 oz, so 20g = (20)(.035274) = .70548 oz 17.99 for .70548 = .70548/17.99 = .039 rounds to 4 cents per ounce or 17.99/20 = .899 rounds to 90 cents per gram and 1 g = .035274 oz .035274/.90 = .039 rounds to 4 cents per oz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, thank you. I was confused because I thought I was getting a ridiculous number but it was because I didn't divide .70548 by 17.99!

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

it is a kind of confusing problem. But the 17.99 was for 20g, or .70548 oz.....you want it for 1 ounce.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry but if I were to have .05oz into that one unit, what would that price be if it's possible to find out? Lol, because I'm trying to calculate how much each and every ingredient I have costs per unit. It's so ridiculous how my teacher wants to know this stuff even though I'll be making it in bulk in real life.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

Is it still 17.99 for 20 g ? And you want to find out how much it is for 5 oz ?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oops .05oz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So this is one ingredient out of 5 that are being put into a .25oz container. That one was $17.99 and it was 0.04/oz. I'll be putting in around 0.05oz into that one container.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

its 17.99 for .04 oz....is that what you are saying ? And you want to find out how much it would cost for .05 oz ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was $0.04/oz wasn't it? Sorry if I'm confusing you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nevermind, it's okay thanks or your help lol

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

yes...I am sorry...my brain got lost..lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, the product was a .25oz tube of lip balm and my teacher wanted the precise price for each and every ingredient put into it. But my problem is, is that my product uses things that are smaller than 1 ounce and that would seriously be like $0. You get what I'm saying? It's ridiculous what my teacher expects.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sounds crazy to me. I think I did that right. We should probably get someone over to check this and see if I did it correctly.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@primeralph ....please check this

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@SolomonZelman ....help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, it's really okay. I'll just fake the measurements.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

are you sure ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I'll just try manipulating the prices. Thank you so much for your consideration.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no problem...I just hope I told you right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, thanks. c:

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Drum roll.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I changed it to grams. Fixed my problem, lol.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

I was tagged.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

yes...I had to see if I did the problem correctly. It just looks weird, because we are dealing with less then an ounce

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I had to change everything into grams because all the ingredients before this were calculated in ounces so I had to make this one match the others but I realized I should've kept that one as grams and change everything else.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Should be 17.99$/0.705485oz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yeah thanks.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oh...I put the numbers in the wrong place

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Price PER unit, so $/oz.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

that is exactly why I tagged you primeralph...you my lifesaver. You have saved my butt several times....thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, well that makes sense, lol.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Yeah, I enjoy saving butts.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

lol....the official butt saver....that can be your title :)
