Hi! I need some help with an algebra 1 question. I will give a medal and become a fan! Please explain how you solved it! :) - Write the slope-intercept form of the equation of the line parallel to y = 5x + 2, which passes through the point (4, 9). y = -1/5 - 11 y = -5x + 9 y = 5x - 11 - Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (loser66):

what is your avatar? hehehe, I don't know what it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if they have same m, different b, they are parallel, no solutions same m, same b, identical, infinite number of solutions (ill defined) different m, one solution, their intersection. Thanks to @douglaswinslowcooper

OpenStudy (emmyma):

@Loser66 ahaha that's my cat with my glasses!

OpenStudy (loser66):

start learning, ok? the required line // to the given line the given line has the slope is 5 ---> the required line will have the same slope, Among the answer, only the last one has the slope is 5. So???

OpenStudy (emmyma):

Hahah thank you! It would be y=5x-11. That makes more sense. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (loser66):

If the options have so many equations with the same slope, you need a point to figure out the equation. But in this case, just only 1 case satisfy the first condition :// , then, stop there.

OpenStudy (emmyma):

Thank you so much^^

OpenStudy (loser66):

np. the avatar looks weird but cute

OpenStudy (emmyma):

@Loser66 Hahah thanks :)
