WHAT DOES THIS QUOTE MEAN? medal! "Unlike earlier generations which viewed young people as active, productive, and needed members of the household and community, adults today tend to treat them as objects, as problems or as the recipients (not deliverers) of service... We need to see youths as citizens: as resources and producers who are valued, needed, respected, and acknowledged."
Hi, This basically falls along the line of baby-boomers. Once upon a time, people were valued or their work ethic. Your worth relied on what you could accomplish with your hands, what you could build and create, your ability to feed and support your family, and your loyalty. Nowadays, everything is owned by intellectual elites. Parents want their children to succeed - so they put them through these harsh and unkind mental Olympics. "Do good in school!" "Get A's, and don't disappoint me!" "You're going to be a doctor one day!" "If you don't do good in school, you will be punished!" We mold and condition our children into societal norms - which isn't inheritable evil, however, it makes children victim of a system and imprisoned by their parent's greed. The Earth has become so populated, that every employer can find an employee. We have become quintessential in our nature. Everyone can be replaced. Yet - from the time of our birth, we are force fed dry rice. In the 17th Chapter of Luke, it says, "The Kingdom of God is within all men." It's not an ethnic or racial group, but all men have the right. We all have the choice and ability to live our life. But our souls are poisoned by these high-standers. Our knowledge is cynical. Our lives, from birth, or harsh and cold. We are raised by machine men. We don't need machinery, we need humanity. - Compassionate
