Describe the possible solution sets for a system of two linear equations, and explain why these are the only possibilities.

OpenStudy (nikato):

do u have a specific problem u r working on?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its just a journal prompt for my online class and i am having a difficult time understanding.

OpenStudy (nikato):

ok. so there r three solution sets. 1. infinitely many when the 2 equations represent the same line. 2. only one point if they intersect. 3. none if the lines are parallel does this make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i understand now i just didnt know what it was asking but i just covered this during my instruction. thankyou

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In which case: 1) The solution is all real numbers, 2)The solution is a point (x,y) 3)There is no solution
