Which of the following points lie in the solution set to the following system of inequalities? y > -3x + 3 y > x + 2 (2, -5) (-2, 5) (2, 5) <-- this is the answer i got (-2, -5) Please correct me if I'm wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have two inequalities for which one you want to try????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont understand this lesson I tried to do the equation 4 times and got all my answers wrong I just need help figuring out the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically you want the correct solution for this system????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya but what would the answer be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't have a book I'm on online school

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer choices i have are (2, -5) (-2, 5) (2, 5) (-2, -5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how you got (2,5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your just gonna have to take your answer choices and sub each one into the inequalities. The solution will be the answer that satisfies both inequalities. lets check your answer (2,5) y > -3x + 3 5 > -3(2) + 3 5 > -6 + 3 5 > -3 (correct) now check the other one... y > x + 2 5 > 2 + 2 5 > 4 (correct) yes...that is the correct answer

thank you @kelliegirl33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem :) these questions are not hard, they are just time consuming

sorry for my wrong posts i just treated the inequailties as equalities, @NadiaElhaj_1
