You need to solve for y?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
When solving for an unknown you need to get the unknown to one side of the equation. The unknown is y. So we have -6/7y-6 > equal to 42. First thing to do is add 6 to both sides 0f the =/>and what would the equation look like.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-6/7y > equal to 48
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-6/7y > or = to 48/1. Now cross multiply and what do you get?

would it be -6 < = to -336y?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hold on i may have goofed
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No that is correct. But it is -6 <= 336y Now divided -6 by 336.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-56 correct?

he reason it is -6 andis that if you cross multiplied -6/-7y that would actually be postive 6/7y...Negative /negative is a positive.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Plug it in for y in the equation Does it work?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
kinda confused me on that last one so it is -6< = to 336y then divide by -6 it is -56?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-6 =< 336y. We need to find the value for y so we divide both sides by 336 to get Y.
