What do the larva and pupa stages have in common? Both stages take place in the water. Both stages involve external changes that take place. Both stages require the mosquito to emerge onto the water's surface. Both stages require hardening of the mosquito's body.

How do dragonflies and fish affect the mosquito population in lakes, ponds and streams? They eat mosquitos, which decreases the mosquito population. They eat mosquitos, which encourages female mosquitos to lay eggs. They eat other insects, leaving the mosquito population to thrive. They do not eat mosquitos, so they have no effect on the population.
