OpenStudy (blues):

Restructure the Ambie program?

OpenStudy (blues):

I am late in putting together a list of suggestions for OpenStudy to start the new year. To start things off, what are peoples' thoughts about restructuring the ambie program? Perhaps the ambie program should evolve toward a generic training period or screening for more specialised, skilled, meaningful ways that ex-ambies and 'alumni ambies' can contribute to the site. For example, those interested or skilled in coding could contribute to site maintenance, those with a flair for interpersonal conflict resolution could be given junior mod powers, those interested in promotion or marketing could work with the admins in that capacity, and so on. I like this idea because I think OpenStudy needs the help - calls for assistant coding, assistant moderation and marketing assistance go up every week. And I think the step from 'ordinary user' to 'ambie' is much easier than the step from 'ordinary user' to 'mod' - it would give ambitiously inclined users something attainable to strive for. And promoting ambies who prove themselves gives them something to strive for too, as well as gives them the chance to develop new skills in areas of interest to them. What are peoples thoughts or feelings about this?

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Awesome ideas @blues I am all for getting more involved. :)

OpenStudy (opcode):

Yes, a thousand times yes. If the ambassador system, was structured like this, I would actually be willing to apply for ambassadorship, as it would finally have a real meaning (not that greeting people is nothing, but that I believe everyone should greet someone else, for the sake of politeness). The real reason I love your idea, is that it hints towards community development, which is awesome! Imagine, we could post patches, or give suggestion that were directly heard by the coders, it would make development for OpenStudy faster, and more better.

OpenStudy (taylor<3srin):

Blues this is great, I think as of now the ambassadors are just normal users with a tag, they aren't respected enough. They earned their title and should be treated as such.

OpenStudy (preetha):

Blues, really good ideas.

OpenStudy (swag):

I would love to assist in helping with this? I been waiting for another project.

thomaster (thomaster):

How about keeping the Ⓐ, but changing the title to their ambi role? The Ⓐ would indicate that they're ambassadors. The title should tell their specific role. Like "chat moderator", or "coding assistent".

thomaster (thomaster):

And I'm only talking about ambi's that are assigned a specific role, the others would retain their original title. I think especially the chat could use some major moderation. Many times it's out of control and mods don't always have time to follow everything that goes on in the chat.

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

I would love to also help out where I can if this is a true work in progress.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I agree, and like interns too @thomaster

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Great ideas, I'd love to help with anything

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

One thing we may be accidentally sending as a message is the meaning of a circle around A. https://www.google.com/search?q=anarchy+a

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Haha @e.mccormick though I doubt most people think of it that way

I Applaud your Ideas friend. Is it possible to add one more section named as "Aptitude" which could help all including students, teachers and graduates equally. The use of aptitude and knowledge tests to screen potential job applicants has long been standard practice across many different sectors. As such they have become an important and integral part of the overall interview process. These days, any job vacancy is likely to attract a large pool of potential candidates. Pre-screening these applicants can help reduce the number to a more manageable size who will then go forward into a more rigorous screening phase. Having contacts from worldwide could help OS a lot to reach students and provide them with aptitude trainings and online classes for a good future. Please accept my suggestion if you feel the opinion is satisfactory. Thank You..In Advance. KPJ 1991
