Practical math help ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (marigirl):

Have you plotted a scatter graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No , I'm not really sure how to ..

OpenStudy (marigirl):

no worries, we can do one on Excel, have you got access to that programme on your PC?

OpenStudy (marigirl):

or we can do one by hand..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have excel

OpenStudy (marigirl):

by hand - example to start you off

OpenStudy (marigirl):

excel is faster, type in the values then all you need to do is click on INSERT then SCATTER

OpenStudy (marigirl):

Type in column A- Distance Column B- Scores.. then Insert scatter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like this?

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Yes, that would work. The Outliers are the ones that are away from most of the other points, and the clusters are the ones that are grouped together.

OpenStudy (marigirl):

its sort of difficult to say if there outliers or clusters cuz we dont have many data points.. that could be one of your arguments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so would I name these points distance number first or points number first ?

OpenStudy (marigirl):

I am sorry i couldnt understand what you meant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I was naming a point from this graph .. would I name it 9,2 or 2,9 with 9 being the total points earned and 2 being the distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically if i was naming this point

OpenStudy (marigirl):

(2,9)

OpenStudy (marigirl):

or a distance of 2 gaining 9 points.. either one is acceptable
