Okay, I will explain it. The Brown v of Board of Education is a very important case when it can to African Americans and their fight for equality. Furthermore, before the Brown v. of Board of Education; the Supreme Court ruled on a case called the Plessy v. Ferguson case and they ruled that "Separate is equal" so that means whites and African Americans were allowed to have separate facilities. The Plessy v. Ferguson case was a major defeat for the AA's and their fight for equal.l However, the Brown v. Board of Education changed that. This case came about when a man and his daughter were denied excess to a white school that was close to their home and they were forced to make a longer commute to a public black school. Anger the man took the school to the Supreme Court and because of the long trail where they discovered that the separate schools were actually negatively affecting AA children's self esteem because they though white was always better the Supreme court ruled that separate is NOT equal but only when it comes to education. This opened the door for AA's because the supreme court ruled separate was not equal in the schools so why not everywhere.
