Solve a couple questions and MEDALS will be rewarded!!!!! :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(6)^-1 a) 6 b) 1/6 c) -1/6 d) -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try it on a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did, all it says is -.166666666666666666666667

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Help plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay now do 1/6 on a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its c too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify the expression (3)^10(3)^-9 a) 3 b) 1/3 c) 19 d) 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do it on a calulator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My calculator doesn't do that kind of stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get a new calulator. you can do it without a calculator 10^a times 10^b = 10^(a + b)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here for you you have 3^10 times 3^-9 = 3^(10 + (-9)) =3^1 = 3

OpenStudy (amoodarya):

\[(3)^{10}\times(3)^{-9}=(3)^{10-9}=(3)^1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the simplified form of the expression. Give your answer in scientific notation. (3 x 10^8)(8 x 10^-4) a) 2.7 x 10^16 b) 1.2 x 10^56 c) 1.2 x 10 ^16 d) 2.7 x 10^15 I think this one is D? or A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry that question is wrong I got two question mixed up, it should say: (3 x 10^8)(9 x 10^7) Same answer choices though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well multiply the 3 and 9 first to give 27 x (10^8)(10^7) now add the exponents (8 and 7 27 x 10^15 2.7 x 10^16

OpenStudy (amoodarya):

\[(3 \times 10^8)\times(9 \times 10^7) =3*3^2 *(10^{8+7})\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The other is (3 x 10^6)(8 x 10^-4) a) 1.1 x 10^3 b) 2.4 x 10^3 c) 1.1 x 10^-23 d) 2.4 x 10^-23 I was almost there just the exponent was one off lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this one is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think your right. If your on a windows PC you can get the calculator up on there, click on view in the top left and go on "scientific"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, hold on I have a few more questions but let me see if I have a caculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Astronomers measure large distances in light years. One light years is that light can travel in one year, approximately 5.88 x 10^12 miles. Suppose a star is 1.23 x 10^2 light years from Earth. In scientific notation, approximately how many miles is it? a) 12.3 x 10^12 b) 7.23 x 10^13 c) 7.23 x 10^14 d) 5.88 x 10^12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(t^-4)^-9t^2 a) t^26 b) t^-26 c) t^38 d) t^-38

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HELP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the first one is C and the other is kinda confusing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks a lot guys and I'm pretty sure the other is B, but what ever
