OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

I'll Medal! Write the product as a trinomial. (2x + 3)(4x – 2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain a trinomial and I will try to help

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

Factoring trinomials means finding two binomials that when multiplied together produce the given trinomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do it the exact same way we did this one. http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/52e2c9eae4b05aea18eb0697

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

im trying to check it cause i have a feeling im wrong...

OpenStudy (shaik0124):

2x(4x-2)+3(4x-2) 8x2-4x+12x-6 8x2+8x-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then what did you get? Tell us what you got and we can help you if you're wrong.

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

I think it's (2x-1)(2x-3)

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

6x^2 – 5x – 6

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

and pixie you're not a mod

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 8x^2+8x-6

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

(2x-1)(2x-3)

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

ahh so i was wrong by using a 6? 6x2 – 5x – 6

OpenStudy (shaik0124):

yeah check my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah you multiply 2x by 4x and -2, then you miltiply 3 by 4x and -2, the add common factors

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

okay im writing it out the way you did wow. you are correct. thanks! i usually just use openstudy to check my work by other people... it keeps me from getting a lower grade :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcome

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

i have 100's of pages of hw that ive gotten 80's on because of double checking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's one thing to use this to check your work, but you should show all your work to us, and tell us what answer you got so we know where to help you. The site isn't supposed to give you answers, but to help you understand how to get the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@PsychoTink calm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

down

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

yeah i kept getting 6x2 – 5x – 6 cause i have multiple choice and i was only testing the majority which had 6's

OpenStudy (jacobbirddog):

8/10 options had 6's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nightmare11-16 I am calm, I was referencing the Code of Conduct. http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct "OpenStudy values the Learning process - not the ‘Give you an answer’ process Don’t post only answers - guide the asker to a solution. Have homework problems? We can help you - as long as you are looking to learn how to get your solution (and not just the answer)."
