x^2 - 6 = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 x 6 = 34 - 6 = 28 not 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay first off you need to bring the 6 - x to the other side. You subtract the 6 and add the x so the entire right side will cancel. You're left with x^2 + x - 6 = 0 Now you can factor them :) (x + 3) (x - 2) You can check if this is right by foiling them to see if you're left with x^2 + x - 6. Now you set both equations equal to zero. x + 3 = 0 x = -3 x - 2 = 0 x = 2 So your two possible answers for x are either -3 or 2 :) I hope this helps if you have questions just feel free to ask.

thankk youuu

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ur welcome.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Math is not my favorite, though we get along

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factoring oh nice FlvsGirl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

@FlvsGirl , if you bring the 6 on the right hand side it becomes 6+x not, 6-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see potatoes

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

So, the rest of your steps end up being wrong.. sorry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry....My bad

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

It's okay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bye, I have to go to another subject...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I ultimately think it is 3

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

@AmberLynn127

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what unit is this @AmberLynn127

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

@JoshCatman you were right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 - 6 = x (x^2 - 6) + (-x) = x + (-x) x^2 - 6 - x = 0 solution set = [3 , -2]

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

^ he's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(3xy^4)^-4?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

- 1/ 81 x^4 y^16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank yoooouu

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome :)
