I am not getting the answer choice that I want from this question. Can someone please give this a short check, to see where I am off? I will appreciate it and will of course give a MEDAL to the one who accurately catches my mistake. That will be my thank you for now.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

My draw tool doesn't work.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Don't need one, type it.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

5x-3y+12+3y+3x-10 8x+6y-2

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

5x-3y+12+3y+3x-10 group similar terms 5x+3x -3y+3y +12-10

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Your negatives and positives are all over the place :P

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Yes. That is my main problem when it comes to combining polynomials. How can I subside that problem of mine?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Would the new equation be: 8x-6y+2?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

What is -3+3? Hint: it's the same as 3-3

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

12-10 should be easy, you got that right

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

0? If that's the case then that doesn't count right? I always get mixed up with the positive and the negative integers. To subside this once and for all (hopefully) do you look at the sign that it is before the term you are doing the computation with?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

** 0 for -3 + 3 **

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

That is how you should deal with negatives. Change the order. -3 + 3 = 3-3 -10 +12 = 12 - 10 and for both negative... -2-5 = -(2+5)

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Thanks @agent0smith
