@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

anything to the 1/2 power is really a square root of that same group so (5x-4)^(1/2) is the same as sqrt(5x-4)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay so it would be 5x-4=4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x^2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sqrt(5x-4)-x = 0 sqrt(5x-4) = x 5x - 4 = x^2 0 = x^2 - 5x + 4 x^2 - 5x + 4 = 0
