Where does the line whose equation is y=-4/7x-1/2 cross the y-axis? this question is really confusing me i know that -1/2 is th y-intercept but my answers are all like (0,-1/2) (-1/2,0) but where does the 0 come from ?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

in (0, -1/2), 0 is how much you go along the x-axis. The best way to figure it out is to graph the line. it's foolproof if you graph it correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would the 0 be be for the Y access or after it ?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

sorry, could you rephrase that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

crosses the y axis, first coordinate is 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i.e. \((0,-1/2)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the \(y\) axis the first coordinates are all 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so since the first coordinet is 0 the answer would be (0,-1/2) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no the other way around?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so (-1/2. 0) would be the answer because the Y intercept will come first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y intercept comes after X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first coordinate is x, second is y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that makes sense thanks !

OpenStudy (mikeyymonroe):

hey @msumner :) you should fan me so we can talk :)
