I REALLY NEED HELP ANYONE PLEASE :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exterior angle theorem? anyone

OpenStudy (arabpride):

surrrrrre *^.^*

OpenStudy (arabpride):

@cheergurl_99

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Welcome! *^.^* What's your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well im not quite sure how to solve equations using the exterior angle theorem

OpenStudy (arabpride):

can u give me an example??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah sure umm like angle T is 5x+10 and angle S is 58 degrees and then Angle U is 11x+2 and its in a triangle form of course but i cant really show you so im telling you the angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not quite sure how to set that up or solve it i mean earlier someone explained it to me but im not so clear about it

OpenStudy (arabpride):

um can u attach it, it would really help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gimme a sec

OpenStudy (arabpride):

No Problem *^.^*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry to keep you waiting im trying to see if its on blackboard

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Not a Problem at all hun *^.^*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not up there ;/ but its basically an upside down triangle with the right side extended

OpenStudy (arabpride):

ok, i had wanted an image so i can see which angles went where

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh well umm 11x+2 is U and thats where the extended line is and then in the upper left theres angle T which is 5x+10 and then in the upper right corner theres angle S which is 58 degrees

OpenStudy (arabpride):

ok hun, gimme a second to draw it out, nd figure it out *^.^*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrighty no prob :)

OpenStudy (arabpride):

ok, i think ive figured it out, but, can u tell me what type of triangle it iz?? isosceles, with two congruent anglez??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes its an isosceles

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Perfect!!! I think i got! Are S and T congruent??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (arabpride):

5x + 10 = 58 -10 -10 5x = 48 /5 /5 x = 9.333333(etc) x = 9.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it suppose to be 5x+10+58+11x+2? thats what i was told before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no no i meant 5x+10+58=11x+2

OpenStudy (arabpride):

ohhh ok yahh thats another way to solve for x!! setting all of the measures to equal 180 degrees!! Good Job!! 5x + 10 + 58 + 11x + 2 = 180 (combine like terms) 16x + 70 = 180 -70 -70 16x = 110 x = 6.875

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHH OKAY THANK YOU!! :) THANKS SO MUCH!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i do that for the rest of them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your supose to set it to 180?

OpenStudy (arabpride):

yes!! for triangles only tho!! set them to equal 180 degreez, and then combine like termz, nd solve from there :D Your Welcome! NOO Problem *^.^* U can tag me whenever u have a question!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (arabpride):

ANY time *^.^*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats your name :)

OpenStudy (arabpride):

MY name is Venus *^.^* nd u??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lexi :)

OpenStudy (arabpride):

NIce to meeet ya *^.^*
