Please evaluate: 2x^2+2y for x=5, y=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, what do you get if you plug those values in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you explain it? I don't understand it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your original equation is 2x^2 + 2y, so put your values in there. They tell you that x = 5, so it would be 2(5)^2 + 2y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And then you'd also put the y value in, which would give you 2(5)^2 + 2(3) since they tell you that y = 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you just use arithmetic and solve that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x2+2y@x=5;y=3 2(52)+(2)(3) = 56

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! Nice job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, thanks a lot! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem.
