help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

√(100x^4 )/√(25x^2 )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 help please?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

combine the roots, and then reduce 100/25 = 4 x^4/x^2 = x^2 so we'll have sqrt(4x^2) = sqrt( (2x)^2 ) = 2x where x >= 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got lost in this part: sqrt(4x^2) = sqrt( (2x)^2 ) = 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait! I think I get it now! thanks!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sorry went afk for a sec, but (2x)^2 = 2^2 * x^2 = 4x^2 so that's how I got 4x^2 = (2x)^2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the square root will undo the square in (2x)^2, which is why sqrt( (2x)^2 ) = 2x
