P=b+2a+2c for b=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of equations as a scale. What you do to one side, you HAVE to do to the other. So if you have the equation: P = b + 2a + 2c, and you want to solve for b, get rid of everything that is with b. In this case, you have a 2a, and a 2c, so get rid of them (- 2a - 2c), but remember, you have to do the same thing to the other side, or it's no longer an equation. P = b + 2a + 2c -2a -2c -2a - 2c P -2a -c2 = b

so how do i write it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b = P - 2a -2c, sorry, that was a typo

I accidentally wrote -c2. Technically, it's still the same answer, but usually, they want the answer with the variable they're asking for first, in this case, b. Which is why it's: b = P -2a -2c. Hope I didn't confuse you there.
