find the coordinates of the point p on the line L1
What is L2? Could you maybe draw a clearer picture?
the figure shows a line L1 in space and a second line L2, which is projection of L1 on xy plane

This is something to do with projections
okay, so first take a rule and go straight down from p all the way to L2. The intersection point will give you x, y coords.
then take a ruler from the origin to the projection of P. Keep the angle the same as you slide it up to P itself. Then the intersection with the z axis should be the z coord.
for x,y coords z=0 so (x,4,0) right
@wio " The intersection point will give you x, y coords" what point did u get, I got z=0, y=4 how to get x?
It won't get you the z coord, since know projecting it messes with the z coord. It will only get you x and y like I said. Start at the point P and move parallel to the z axis (straight down) until you hit L2. Then look at only the xy place to find the coords.
i got (2,1)
Now you measure the distance from the intersection to P, then measure the z axis to see how many units it will be.
I didn't get that @wio I got stuck here|dw:1391103742633:dw| can u draw on that plz
