how do you graph the solution set of 2x-5<3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean on a number line, right ?

2x - 5 < 3 these are solved pretty much like equations except for one simple rule about inequalities. When dividing/multiplying by a negative number, the inequality sign changes. So we want to get 2x on one side by itself, and everything else on the other side. 2x - 5 < 3 --- add 5 to both sides 2x < 3 + 5 2x < 8 -- now divide by 2 to get x by itself x < 8/2 x < 4 Now to graph on a number line... if there is an equal sign, use a closed circle if there is no equal sign, use an open circle if it is (<) less then, shade to the left if it is (>) greater then, shade to the right Read up on this, and if you still can't graph it, tag me, and we will work on it together :)
