first correct answer will get a fan and a medal!!!solve, using the substitution method. y=3x-4 9x-3y=114 a.)thee is no solution b.) (12.14) c.) (14,12) d.) there are an infinite number of solutions

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Since you have the first equation already solved for y, substitute y into the second equation and solve by substitution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean the second equation is 9x-3y=14 not 9x-3y=114

I need help

@mathstudent55?

i NEED help

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Do as @mathstudent55 suggested.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

1st eq is \(y=3x-4\) Wherever you see \(y\) in the second eq, replace it with \((3x-4)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

That gives you an equation with only \(x\) as a variable. Solve it. Then use the first equation to get the value of \(y\) from that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but im not sure how to do it im very new to it and im not the best at math to begin with

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Just do the substitution I suggested, and tell me your result. Then we can walk through solving the equation.
