what would happen if you increase the current when doing an experiment with a filament lamp? would the resistance increase as the current increases?

OpenStudy (roadjester):

I guess you would potentially have to use ohm's law V=IR so if voltage remains the same and current increases, resistance would need to decrease.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou but because it is a filament lamp and it does not follow ohms law then wouldnt the higgher the current the higher the resistance

OpenStudy (roadjester):

my mistake then.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure i may be wrong

OpenStudy (mrnood):

most metals increase in resistivity with increased temperature. Increasing the current will increase the power used by the lamp, and therefore raise its temperature. The resistance of the filament will therefore increase.
