How do I make a compound inequality with 1.If 3 times the air pressure is increased by 2, the pressure is still less than 92 inches.. 2.Twice the air pressure minus 39 is greater than 11 inches.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. 3<x+2<92 2. 2>x-39>11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not 100% sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I said it was x(3)+2=92in. > x(2)-39=11in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First of all, x(3) should look like this 3x. And x(2), like this 2x. Second, thats not a compound inequality.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well glad you told me. I suck at these inequalities. I don't know what im doin.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm mostly guessing, but I do know what a compound inequality looks like. The way I wrote it is the only way I see that it can be written as a compound inequality. But if I'm wrong, I'd love to be shown how to do it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it looks right. I don't get how they would do it if it aint right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me neither.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill see when it gets graded. let you know if it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome. can you try and see if this one makes sense to you.? I understand what its asking but I don't know how to make an inequality for it.

Part C: The average air pressure in another town is 29 inches but the actual pressure is within 4 inches of the average. Write and solve an inequality to find the range of air pressure in this town.
