I was just wondering--I haven't gotten to Physics yet, I'm in Bio, but I heard of the string theory where all matter is made of "strings" which are 1-dimensional but vibrate in all 3 dimensions. Can someone explain it more to me, because I'm just curious?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Strings are tiny bits of energy, The theory has them forming the particles that make up the nuclei of atoms. It predicts some things surprisingly well, but does so with some adjustable parameters. It may be true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its something like.. how a stretched string between two ends can produces various sounds of different frequencies.. similarly all the objects that u see around us.. is basically sort of like vibrations of strings.. that is kind of what the theory says

And look for others by Michio Kaku.

Thank you, all of you, I wish I could give you all medals but I can't :/ And btw I love Michio Kaku's presentations! I've seen some by him before.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

かさんはええあらまがあるとおもしろいですよ Kaku is smart and interesting(funny). The combination makes him really great to watch.

All too true.

Kaku, is an inspiration to all aspiring scientists, physicists, and teachers.. His imagination is just awesome.. You should download his physics series "the Physics of impossible" brief episodes about various fictions, that could be true and all in simple layman terms :D
