i need help on how to solve 4x - 6<3x - 1 and graphing it on a number line

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Basically we want to combine like terms, so as to simplify this inequality. Try subtracting 3x from both sides of the inequality. Simplify as much as possible. Next, add 6 to both sides. See whether you can explain why this step is necessary. Simplify the result. You'll end up with the simple inequality x< (some integer). To graph the "solution area," draw a dotted or dashed vertical line through x = (some integer). Then shade the area to the left of this dashed line. Try to put into words what you have done here and why you did it. That may add to your understanding of solving this type of problem.
