OpenStudy (anonymous):
the sin of an angle is the opposite side/hypotenuse
so
sin(y) = 7/12
solve for y
y = sin^-1(7/12) = 35.7 degrees

You have opposite and hypotenuse so (sin)y=7/12
OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):
JamesWolf is right
OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):
sin = opposite/hypotenuse
cos = adjacent/hypotenuse
tangen t= opposite/adjacent
