Suppose you are studying a fruit fly's DNA and you discover a gene for antenna length on Chromosome 2. What word describes its location, and where would it be found in other fruit flies DNA?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This mutation-it's called antennapedia-had made a change in the gene that regulates a a whole group of genes that cause a cell to be a leg cell or an antenna cell for fruit fly's. In a fruit fly it could change the fly's antennae into a leg.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Loci (I believe). You'd find it on the same spot on chromosome 2 of another fly's DNA. 2. Recessive more common. If you can't have babies, in the case of the dominant allele, there will be no one to carry your genes in future generations.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

loci is plural, it would be locus.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you can also state that it's on an autosomal chromosome.
