Simplify the following expression: (5x2 + 3x + 4) - (2x2 - 6x + 3). If the final answer is written in the form Ax2 + Bx + C, what is the value of B?

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

@Jadeishere

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

(5x2 + 3x + 4) - (2x2 - 6x + 3) = 5x^2 - 2x^2 + 3x + 6x +4 -3 what will u get if u simplify this one ?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

combine the like terms

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

You add the exponents right?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

no

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

i got 12x + 1...

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Okay, so, you only add the like terms meaning you did it slightly.. um wrong so when there's an x^2, x and a coefficient you don't add the x and x^2 together, just the x^2 + x^2, x+ x and coefficient + coefficient
