I am 15 and want to get a job this summer to save for school, and to get some extra cash. So here is the question, what are some good jobs for me to apply for for teens my age?? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Finding a job when you’re 15 can be tough since the U.S. Department of Labor puts some restrictions on when and where you can work. You’ll have to check your state’s specific guidelines, but according to the federal Department of Labor, 14- and 15-year-olds can work after school hours until 7 p.m. during the school year, and 9 p.m. during the summer. The types of business where you might be able to find employment include baseball parks, grocery stores, movie theaters, offices, restaurants, and retail stores. If you’re having trouble finding a job in your community, you may want to earn some cash by falling back on some tried-and-true self-employment like babysitting, yard work, newspaper delivery, or washing cars. You gotta start somewhere, right? And once you turn 16, you’ll find lots more opportunities for work.

Your Welcome

You can also look into some stores through online sources to look for age requirements. Most grocery stores hire at 15 for bagging and pushing carts.

You can look online to see the restrictions that apply for hours that we can work. I know that 15 year olds can work more over the summer, but they still have restrictions. If you have a Publix nearby, you can work there, or you can work at Carowinds next year. All the positions at Carowinds are taken and they go fast. Just check Publix if you live near one, if not just look online. I know all of this because I am 15 and have looked. The only place that I found was Publix, but maybe you will have better luck. http://www.llr.state.sc.us/Labor/index.asp?file=wages/cll.htm For SC: Sorry if you're not in SC, but I am so this is all of my knowledge. Minors in SC should be able to work without a work permit, as long as your employer meets the restrictions below (from the Dept of Labor website). 14-15 Years Old "Minors ages 14 and 15 must work within prescribed scheduling restrictions, as outlined below. Normal school sessions include all days in which the school observes a standard academic calendar. During normal school sessions, minors ages 14 and 15 may work a maximum of three hours per day, up to 18 hours per week. Work hours must fall within the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Minors who attend school should anticipate a work schedule of 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., for example, in order to comply with these hourly restrictions. During non-school sessions (i.e., summer vacations), minors ages 14 and 15 may work up to eight hours per day, 40 hours per week. Work schedules for non-school sessions must fall between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Appropriate employment for minors ages 14 and 15 includes, but is not limited to: cashiering, serving food, custodial duties, bussing tables, car washing, and delivery work not involving the operation of a motor vehicle. Minors ages 14 and 15 may not engage in the following work activities: warehousing and storage; car repair; public utility duties; work involving the use of ladders or scaffolding; work involving food preparation; the use of grinders; or the operation of lawnmower and golf carts. Further, minors ages 14 and 15 may not engage in any occupation deemed hazardous, as defined under 17 Hazard Occupations Orders of the Fair Labor Standards Act." 16, 17 and Older "Minors ages 16 and older are exempt from the hour and scheduling restrictions. These minors may work as many daily and weekly hours as the job responsibilities require or the employer requests. Minors ages 16 and 17 may not engage in any occupation deemed hazardous, as defined under the 17 Hazardous Occupations Orders of the Fair Labor Standards Act."

@crazycathatesmath14, I only tagged you so that you could see what I wrote when you came online.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, being in home school will make no difference. You can only work the same hours as other 15 yr. olds.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you want to you can look at the information I posted a little more easy to read.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Publix.... or some other grocery store would be good... most places wont hire you unless you are 16.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I have found most grocery stores hire at 14 or 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could try babysitting.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Babysitting, your favorite store, fast-food restuarants (I'm not sure how to spell that.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Most places you need to be 16
