In my text book it asks me to rearrange an equation that's in the form y=mx+c into the form ax+by+c=0. The example shows that y=-3x-7 can be rearranged into 3x+y+7=0. Can some show me in detail how this was done?

OpenStudy (nikato):

y=-3x-7 +7. +7 ------------- 7+y= -3x +3x. +3x -------------- 3x+y+7=0

OpenStudy (nikato):

1. Start with original equation. 2. Add 7 to both sides. 3. Add 3x to both sides

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

ohh I didn't even think of moving everything to the other side! I only the y had moved :D

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

Thanks :D

OpenStudy (nikato):

No problem. U can move thing s to the other side. As long as you do the same thing to both sides
