How did the cameras back in the day run, and did they use batteries?
if im not mistaken i belive they ran through and electronic image sensor
Batteries were developed around 1800, and they used a sort of powder and a sheet of film--it used nitrous oxide or something like that, I'm not sure. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_camera and study that a bit; you might be able to get an answer.
oh it will i'm sure, wanna hear the story, i've got time, and aurorablue01, thanks for the link , i'll check it out in a sec.
Actually, the VERY VERY first "cameras" were pinhole cameras--they were developed in ancient China around 400 BC but they weren't REAL cameras.
if they weren't real cameras, then what were they, lol.
Well it was according to ehow.com. I would suggest researching it some more; the Internet is a huge place with lots of information.
"Daguerreotypes and calotypes Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicéphore Niépce invented the first practical photographic method, which was named the daguerreotype, in 1839. Daguerre coated a copper plate with silver, then treated it with iodine vapor to make it sensitive to light. The image was developed by mercury vapor and fixed with a strong solution of ordinary salt (sodium chloride). Henry Fox Talbot perfected a different process, the calotype, in 1840. Both used cameras that were little different from Zahn's model, with a sensitized plate or sheet of paper placed in front of the viewing screen to record the image. Focusing was generally via sliding boxes."
So the types of cameras around the period you mentioned are daguerrotypes and calotypes.
ok, thanks for the help, however i gotta skidadle on to lunch now, i'll be back with another question tomorrow i'm sure
ok no problem, see you around soon.
see ya
Old cameras work using a special thin strip of film. The film is treated with a special light sensitive chemical that works by causing a chemical change when sunlight strikes the film. The more light exposed to the film, the more exposed the film will become. Too much light can overexpose the film, completely ruining the photo.
o
