what question can be asked to help evaluate log3 81

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

No question needs to be asked. \[Log_381\] \[Log_3(3^4)=?\]

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Or my guess to what question can be asked, What identities should be used to evaluate it?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\[\log_381=\log_3(3^4)=4\log_33=?\] can you continue, or should I ?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I actually do like to phrase logarithms in the form of a question. For example, evaluating something of the form\[\large \log_bx\]is equivalent to the question "\(b\) raised to what power equals \(x\)?"

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Maybe, I typically think ...or I don't think, I just do it (when it comes to logs) :)

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Once you are comfortable with logs, you probably shouldn't get too hung up on that interpretation, but I think it's a valuable interpretation to keep in mind for a beginner.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yeah...
